The Heart Behind Eluit: Why I Started This Business

Eluit didn’t start as an art business. It actually began in 2015 as a simple idea: buying wholesale Turkish towels and selling them to friends and family to raise funds for an upcoming mission trip to India. Every dollar went to Love India Mission, a group of missionaries I had the privilege of staying with, who were teaching children at the local school despite earning below minimum wage.

I’ll never forget handing them the funds, tears streaming down both of our faces, as we witnessed God’s faithfulness in providing for His people. It stirred in me a longing to participate in His restorative work of helping those in need.

A New Vision for Eluit

In 2021, I was renovating my grandparents house (our new home) and studying at Bible College. That season was formative in ways I didn’t expect. For the first time, I was completely immersed in Scripture, pouring over it daily in a way I never had before. In the midst of life’s inevitable challenges, I realised something profound: God’s Word was my anchor. It strengthened me, shaped me, and gave me the kind of peace that only God can give.

That’s when the vision for Eluit began to shift. I no longer wanted it to be just a way to give, I wanted it to be a way to share the life-giving power of Scripture itself.

This is where my grandmother Audrey’s influence became even more significant. Her home was adorned with Bible verses — small yet constant reminders of God’s truth woven into the everyday. And when we started packing up the contents of her home, we found scraps of paper tucked away in drawers, napkins, and notebooks, all filled with handwritten Scriptures and hymns. She had treasured God’s Word in her heart more than anyone I had ever personally known.

The name Eluit (pronounced eh-loo-ee) comes from the French word luit, meaning “to shine.” It’s a tribute to Audrey’s legacy, but also a reflection of what I pray this business will be: a way to bring light, truth, and beauty into homes through Scripture.

How Eluit Gives Back

At Eluit, we are humbled to partner with charities that embody Jesus’ call to care for the vulnerable. By giving 30% of our profit, we are able to contribute to the life-changing work of these organisations.

Through Compassion Australia, we help children break free from the cycle of poverty by supporting education, healthcare, and spiritual growth. With Destiny Rescue, our giving plays a part in rescuing children from human trafficking and providing them with safe environments, healing, and opportunities for a hopeful future. And by supporting Open Doors, we stand alongside persecuted Christians around the world, helping to provide Bibles, training, and relief that strengthens their faith under pressure.

Each partnership allows us to join in God’s mission of bringing hope, dignity, and love to those who need it most.

Holding Scripture Close

In Deuteronomy 6:4–9, Moses reminds the Israelites to keep God’s Word close — not just in their hearts, but in their homes and their conversations, teaching it to their children and carrying it with them always.

That is my hope for Eluit. That these designs would be more than just art on your walls, that they would be daily reminders of God’s faithfulness. A balm in difficult seasons, a reflection of joy in times of abundance, and a quiet blessing to all who enter your home.

Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey. I can’t wait to share more designs, more reflections, and more of what God is teaching me through this process.
